This CLE course will examine current trends in medical malpractice claims brought against chiropractors, including the injuries that commonly give rise to such claims, and practical tips to succeed with or overcome such claims.

Description

Chiropractic care and treatment has grown more popular in recent years, though it remains controversial in some circles. Patients can sue chiropractors for medical malpractice just like medical doctors. In most jurisdictions, negligence or liability lawsuits that are filed against chiropractors are no different than ones filed against physicians.

Chiropractor negligence cases work much like any medical malpractice case. The victim must be able to prove that the chiropractor failed to provide the proper standard of care and that, by failing to do so, the patient suffered new or worsened injuries. Because of this, the evidence, including expert testimony, is critical to show that the chiropractor met or failed to meet the proper standard of care.

Listen as our experienced panel discusses the common injuries that give rise to chiropractic malpractice claims, the life cycle of a chiropractic malpractice claim, and how to determine the proper standard of care in chiropractic cases. Our panelists will also provide insight into approaches to defend against or triumph in these cases with expert witnesses and other evidence.
