This CLE webinar will guide patent counsel on the use of ChatGPT and other natural language processors. The panel will discuss the implications of the use of such tools. We will address privacy concerns and what steps companies can/should do to protect their information and works while leveraging the power of AI.

Description

The artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT can generate lyrics, stories, play scripts, and much more after receiving some basic information. It may be able to quickly generate a patent application. But there are many reasons to be wary of using it in patent drafting. Using AI to automate tasks is potentially game changing, freeing attorneys to focus on higher level work. However, these tools must be used with caution.

For example, while some startups and other companies are using code that is generated by ChatGPT or other natural learning processors, they may be unaware or ignoring that, if the overall code includes any code that is under a public license, their overall code must be publicly disclosed. Use of such code is rampant by software engineers. It is critical for companies to scan software for any code that uses public license code but this is cost prohibitive and most companies cannot afford to do this.

Companies and their patent counsel should carefully consider how they can leverage the use of tools like ChatGPT while protecting the confidential information and the IP rights involved.

Listen as our authoritative panel of patent attorneys examines the use of ChatGPT and other natural language processors and the implications of that use. The panel will address privacy concerns and what steps companies can/should do to protect their information and works while leveraging the power of AI.
